Tanuki Koji
Shopping Street

Sapporo's Tanuki Koji Shopping Street is one of Hokkaido's oldest shopping streets, celebrating its 140th anniversary in 2013. It spans approximately 900 meters across 7 blocks, making it one of the largest shopping streets in Hokkaido, with around 200 shops under its arcade. The current arcade is the second generation, covering not only the streets but also the intersections, except for the national highway section.

Sapporo Clock Tower

Built in 1878, this is Japan's oldest clock tower, originally constructed as the drill hall for the Sapporo Agricultural College. It still operates as it did back then. The clock tower features four faces with dials and is a mechanical clock powered by weights.

Former Hokkaido Government Office Building

Known as the "Red Brick Government Building," it was constructed in the Neo-Baroque style with American influences in the 21st year of the Meiji era. It is a nationally designated important cultural property and is open to the public. The front yard of the Red Brick Government Building is lush and serves as an oasis in Sapporo.

Sapporo Maruyama Zoo

Sapporo Maruyama Zoo is a zoo located in the heart of Sapporo, a city with a population of 1.9 million, surrounded by abundant nature. The Steller's Sea Eagle has been a resident animal since the zoo's opening. The zoo was opened in 1951, making it the 10th in the country and the oldest zoo in Hokkaido. At that time, there were three species and four animals on display: a pair of Hokkaido brown bears, Hokkaido deer, and Steller's Sea Eagles. Now, it has become a zoo that houses approximately 180 species and 900 animals.

Moiwa Mountain

You can enjoy nature in just about 20 minutes from the center of Sapporo. Mount Moiwa, with an elevation of 531 meters, located almost in the center of Sapporo City, is a great spot for panoramic views. From spring to autumn, you can enjoy lush greenery and autumn foliage, while in winter, it becomes a pristine white snowscape.

Okurayama

Okurayama was the stage for the 1972 Winter Olympics in Sapporo. Along the ridge of the mountain, a streamlined ski jump was built. From the top of this ski jump, you can enjoy a panoramic view of Sapporo City, and you can also fully appreciate Sapporo's night view, which has been selected as one of Japan's New Three Major Night Views.
